My husband and I’ve worked in our dining room about a year ago, and while it looks lovely we were planning to do a lot more but just haven’t found the time to do it.I told my husband we should continue the improvements after we’ve replaced the floor however at this point I don’t know when that will be. Every time I think I’ve made up my mind, I change it. At first, I wanted wood, then tile like wood, and then LVT. For now, I’m in standby mode until the master bathroom is finished.
While the room construction is on hold, there’s nothing stopping me from decorating the walls and improving the room’s natural appeal. With our nine-foot walls being cut in half by the chair rail (boards) I knew finding decorative elements to fit the space wasn’t going to be easy. At first I thought that a little artwork would be perfect for the room, however, I didn’t quite find the pieces I was looking for. After a week or so of searching, I settled on going DIY, which was always in the back of my mind. 🙂
I have seen decorative wall baskets before and I loved how they looked and after searching for something else I knew this was the way to go. Being thrifty, I set out to the Goodwill to find the perfect baskets. I went to no less than 3 Goodwill stores on two different occasions to find the baskets I wanted; you’ll see in the video. One thing I discovered while basket hunting was that the larger sizes were hard to come by. Some large baskets were damaged, stained or otherwise unusable, so instead of keeping with the smaller sizes I changed my direction and found a couple basket lids which fit the aesthetic I was going for and gave my piece the substance it was missing. The final size of the piece was three and a half by five foot on the wall and really tied the room together in the most perfect way possible.

Mi esposo y yo comenzamos a trabajar en un cambio de look del comedor hace un año, y aunque se ve bien al momento aún nos queda terminarlo, pero simplemente no hemos encontrado el tiempo para hacerlo. Le dije a mi esposo que deberíamos continuar las mejoras después de haber reemplazado el piso sin embargo en este momento no sé cuándo será. Cada vez que pienso que he tomado una decisión cambió de opinión. Al principio, quería azulejos que parecen madera la madera, y luego LVT. Por ahora, decidí que voy a priorizar terminar la renovación del baño principal. Mientras que la conclusión el comedor queda en stand by, no hay nada que me detenga de decorar las paredes y mejorar el look de la habitación. La pared la dividimos en 4 pies y 5 pies la verdad es un poco complicado encontrar elementos decorativos para encajar en el espacio. Al principio pensé en una pieza arte sería perfecto para la habitación, sin embargo, no encontré una del tamaño necesario. Después de una semana o mas de buscar, decidí hacer un DIY decorativo yo misma.
He visto murales hechos con cestas antes y me encanta cómo se, así que sabía que esto era lo que podía hacer en el comedor. Compre la estas cestas en la tienda de segundo uso. Fui por lo menos a 3 tiendas de Goodwill en dos ocasiones diferentes para encontrar las cestas que quería. Una cosa que descubrí mientras buscaba las cestas fue que encontrar tamaños más grandes es mas complicado. Algunas cestas grandes que vi estaban dañadas, manchadas o en pésimas condiciones, pero vi que también en el sector donde están las cestas había tapas de mimbre y sabía que estas iban a funcionar de maravilla, con algunas pequeñas modificaciones. El tamaño final de la pieza era 3.5 de alto y cinco pies de ancho, la decoración de la pared quedó tal y como yo quería.
Como verás en el video este DIY es muy fácil y espero que te guste tanto como a mi. Probablemente gaste como $ 25 en todas las canastas que compre, lo cual es un precio ¡genial!
