I’ve had this project in the back of my mind for a very long time and while it’s taken a while to get it out, I’m really happy I’ve finally made it.A couples weeks ago I was at the thrift store looking for some wicker baskets and since I was already there I remembered I should check the toy section to see if they had any dinosaurs. Lucky for me I found two, and for only $1 each; what a steal! You can also find these toy animals at your local craft store (Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc) but they may be a little more pricey. Being that I found the toys for such a steal I decided it was time to make the project that I had been thinking about for so long. I headed right to Home Depot where I bought a couple of real succulents which I was going to use with a couple succulents I had purchased from the dollar store. In case you hadn’t noticed, this is a super easy DIY which you will see in the video. It’s also the perfect gift for anyone who loves dinosaur and (or) succulents.
I want to give you a couple of recommendations on how to keep your succulent alive and looking beautiful. I have learn to keep my succulents alive the hard way so learn from me and save your plants.
- Succulents don’t like direct sun light. Avoid placing them close to the windows.
- Don’t water them so offend, I’ve killed a couple succulents because I over water them.
- Only water the plant when the soil is dry, which for me is about every 7 to 10 days.
- When you are transplanting succulent be really careful when handling, they are really delicate.
- If possible try to use succulent mix, which is 2 parts by volume of a potting soil, 1 part perlite, and 1 part small size gravel.
If you are not good at all with plants, like I used to be, be more practical and get an artificial succulent. This project still looks wonderful with artificial plants.

Tenia en mente hacer este proyecto por mucho tiempo. Estoy feliz de que finalmente lo hice. Hace un par de semanas me di una vuelta por la tienda de segunda mano, estaba buscando unas cestas de mimbre, ya que me encontraba ahí, decidí pasar por el área de juguetes para ver si encontraba unos dinosaurios, tuve la suerte de encontrar dos por sólo $ 1 cada uno ¡Genial! También puedes encontrar estos animales de juguetes en la tienda de manualidades (Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc). Compre las suculentas en The Home Depot y la suculenta artificial es de la tienda de dólar. Este es un DIY súper fácil como lo verás en el video. Estos macetas de Dinosaurios pueden ser el regalo perfecto para cualquier persona que ame el dinosaurio o suculentas, las puedes usar como regalos del Día de la madre o del Padre y también para San Valentín.
Quiero darle alguna recomendación sobre cómo mantener tu suculenta vivo, he aprendido con el tiempo y con la pérdida de varias suculentas la mejor manera de mantenerlas vivas.
- A las suculentas no les gusta el sol directo. Evite colocarlos cerca de las ventanas
No las riegues muy seguido, he perdido a un par de suculentas porque las regué demasiado. - Sólo riega la planta cuando el suelo está seco, aproximadamente cada 7 a 10 días.
- Cuando estás trasplantando suculentos, ten cuidado que las plantas son muy delicadas.
- Si es posible, trate de usar una mezcla de tierra para suculentas, que es 2 partes por volumen de un suelo de macetas, 1 parte de perlita y 1 parte de grava pequeña.
Si tu no eres muy buena cuidando plantas se más práctico y usa una suculenta artificial.
