It is amazing how much decorative pillows can add charm to a space; I love how they make my living room fill more cozy and warm. I’ve been trying to make this project for a while however,until recently, I’ve always purchased the wrong type of paper because I keep forgetting I NEED Freezer paper for this project. What I like about using Freezer paper is that it gives you the opportunity to create a unique stencil, plus you’ll save some money; stencils can be expensive depending on the design and the size. I’m using my Cricut machine for this project but even if you don’t have a cutting machine you can make this lovely project. Without a cutting machine the stencil process will take you a little extra time as you’ll have to cut it by hand but you’ll be able to produce the same amazing results.
As you’re following the video tutorial you’ll see I used cheap masking tape instead of transfer paper/tape. While this was a novel idea, it came about serendipitously. I didn’t really know I’d will need transfer paper or tape so I didn’t have any on hand, I learned after creating a complete mess attempting to peeling off the freezer paper stencil with the design “gather”. After a little researched I discovered I needed to use transfer tape/paper when working with more complex designs. I was ready to go to the store to buy what I needed thought it’s really nothing more than a big piece of masking tape (EUREKA!!!). So before rushing out to get a product, I decided give the masking tape a try. They are great transfer tape/paper that you can order online. I just didn’t want to wait another 2 days to finish this project. I know the transfer tape available in the stores close to my house is the one from Cricut, but this has terrible reviews everyone complains that it’s too sticky. I had a role of cheap tape from the dollar store, which was not super sticky and it worked great.
Depending on the size of pillows, feel free to modify the template size. I used 18x18in pillow covers and modified the template to fit my Cricut matt, 12x12in . If you are cutting the templates by hand, the PDF has already been modified to fit letter size paper. To make these Farmhouse Pillow Covers I used two different fabric paints. My favorite paint was the Tulip brand, I know a lot of people use acrylic paint, but I didn’t want to risk marking my white couch just to save some cash; better to be safe than sorry. Plus using fabric paint allows me to put them in the washer machine, which is an added benefit because I’ve a husband and two dogs ;).

Es increíble cuánto carácter le pueden dar a un espacio las almohadas decorativas. Me encanta cómo hacen que mi sala se haga mas acogedora y cálida. He tenido en mente este proyecto por un tiempo sin embargo siempre me he equivocado y he comprado el tipo de papel equivocado, para este proyecto necesitas comprar Freezer paper. Lo que me gusta sobre el uso de papel Freezer es que te da la oportunidad de crear una plantillas únicas y además de ahorrar algo de dinero ya que las plantillas pueden ser costosas dependiendo del diseño y del tamaño. Yo estoy usando mi máquina Cricut para este proyecto pero aun si tu no tienes una máquina de cortado puedes hacer el proyecto. La única diferencia es que te va a tomar un poquito mas de tiempo cortar el diseño a mano pero el resultado final será el mismo.
Como verás en el tutorial, yo use masking tape en vez de una cinta o papel de transferencia. Realmente no sabía que necesitaría papel o cinta de transferencia para este tipo de proyecto y no tenia ninguna a la mano. Cuando hice el corte de la primera plantilla y la removí del mat me quedo como un laberinto, el cual iba hacer difícil volver a poner en forma para planchar, ahí me puse a averiguar un poco mas y aprendí que cuando el diseño es un poco mas complejo es recomendable usar transfer tape/ papel. Yo estaba lista para ir a la tienda para comprar la cinta de transferencia, pero después de leer algunos reviews refiriéndose a esta como un gran pedazo de cinta masking (EUREKA !!!) decidí intentar usar una cinta masking de la tienda de dólar que tenia a la mano y que no es nada pegajosa, lo que es bueno para este proyecto. Hay muchos tipos de cinta o papel de transferencia online pero la verdad yo no quería esperar otros dos días para terminar este proyecto. También me fije que la cinta de transferencia que venden el las tiendas cercanas a mi casa es de la marca Cricut y esta en particular no tiene muy buenos reviews todos se quejan de que es muy pegajosa. Yo use masking tape porque era lo que tenia a la mano y si funciono.
Dependiendo del tamaño de almohadas que use modifica el tamaño de tu plantilla. Yo use cobertores de 46cm x 46cm y use el diseño de gather como para que abarcara en el mat de mi cortadora 30 x30cm, pero si lo vas a hacer a mano el diseño lo modifique para que abarcara el tamaño de papel carta. Para hacer estas cubiertas de la almohadas utilicé dos tipos de pintura de la tela. Mi pintura favorita fue la marca Tulip, sé que mucha gente usa pintura acrílica, pero no quería correr el riesgo de manchar mi sofá blanco sólo para ahorrar algo de dinero; mejor prevenir que lamentar. Además si usas pintura de tela puede ponerlo en la lavadora, lo cual es genial para mi porque tengo un esposo y dos perros ;).

I love how my living room is coming together and it’s getting a lot character, as you may know I still have more project in mind, like changing the floor, I’m not sure when this is happening so meanwhile I got a beautiful jute rug, which frame my living room in such an amazing way. Me fascina como esta quedando mi sala y si me sigues sabrás que todavía tengo más proyecto en mente, como cambiar el piso, no estoy seguro cuando lo haremos mientras tanto compré una alfombra hermosa del yute. Esta enmarcan mi sala de estar de una manera excelente. Sin embargo yo estaba teniendo algunos problemas manteniendo la alfombra en su lugar.
