If you’ve followed me for a while you probably know how much I love my dogs. I’m always taking pictures of them and arguably torturing them to be my models. The other day I was at the Dollar Tree I saw these adorable Christmas headbands and I thought, I should modify them for my dogs! Dog’s headbands tend to be expensive and it doesn’t make sense to spend a too much on something that’ll be worn for a few minutes and then chewed on. Lucky for me, with the power the Dollar Store and a little DIY ingenuity I made three headbands for $5.
For this project, I used Christmas headbands but you the truth is any festive. I recommend getting the fabric wrapped headbands.
You’ll see Xavi who was my special guest for this video. Xavi became my foster dog when my husband and I found him, dumped, at a flea market. We hooked Xavi up through the local shelter and set out to find him a perfect Family. I am happy to announce that he was adopted. We found him the perfect home.
If you ever foster an animal I have several tips for helping introduce your foster to the public. When you’re trying to find a home for your foster, photos are key. I took some cute pictures of Xavi and uploaded to the rescue website. A lot of dogs looking for a home can be found on local shelter websites however if you can produce a cute and cuddly picture it’ll go a long way to getting folks to pay attention to your foster. Do a lot of marketing on social media, which helps get folks in your circles to share news about your foster. The combinations of social media and photography drive applications giving you the opportunity to interview folks making sure your foster meets the perfect family.

Si me has seguido por un tiempo, probablemente sepas cuánto amo a mis perros. Siempre les tomo fotos y son mis modelos favoritos. El otro día, cuando estaba en la tienda Dollar Tree, vi estas adorables diademas de navidad y pensé: ¡debería modificarlas para mis mascotas! Las cintas para la cabeza de los perros tienden a ser caras y no tiene sentido gastar mucho en algo que se usará durante unos minutos y luego masticaran.
Por suerte para mí, con el poder de Dollar Tree y un poco de ingenio DIY, hice tres diademas por solo $5. Para este proyecto, usé diademas de Navidad, pero puedes utilizar diademas de cualquier festividad. Les recomiendo conseguir las diademas envueltas en tela.
En el video veras a Xavi, quien fue mi invitado especial para este video. Xavi se convirtió en mi perro foster cuando mi esposo y yo lo encontramos, abandonado, en un mercadillo. Nos conectamos con un refugio local y ofrecimos darle alojamiento hasta porder encontrarle el hogar perfecto. Me complace anunciar que Xavi fue adoptado y ya tiene un nuevo hogar con una familia que lo quiere mucho.
Si alguna vez hacer foster a un perro o gato, tengo unos cuantos consejos para ayudar a presentar a tu foster. Cuando intentas encontrar un hogar para tu foster las fotos son clave. Tomé algunas fotos lindas de Xavi y las cargué en el sitio web de refugio. Se pueden encontrar muchos perros en busca de un hogar en los sitios web de refugios locales; sin embargo, si puede obtener una imagen adorable y singular mas gente prestará mucha atención. También le hize bastante marketing en las redes sociales, lo que ayuda a que mas gente lo vea y mande sus aplicaciones de adopción. Mas aplicaciones tenga tu foster ye asegurarte poder encontrar el hogar perfecto.
