My newest set of paper flowers, Valencia and Sydney, is now available in my Etsy shop. I’m really happy with this set as the flower designs look amazing and they are even easier to make than previously released sets. I usually take about two to three months to release a new set of flower for my shop and while some people think this is too long of a development cycle, I’m extremely proud of my work and want the very best for my clients. My flowers patterns and tutorials are not the cheapest on the market but I can assure you, they are some of the best available. The video tutorials have been crafted with time and care, and the patterns, templates, and guides have been made to ensure your creations are just as good, if not better than the ones you’ll see in the videos.
Here are some tips and tricks I’ve found to be invaluable when creating paper flowers:
To make paper flowers I recommend using medium weight cardstock 8.5x11in / 21.5 x 27.9cm (65lb – 176 g/m2). All of my patterns are made to fit this paper size.
Don’t waste your time using a cutting machine. I love my cutting machine but I only use it to cut leaves, vines, and flower centers. The best tool to make flowers is simply a steady hand and a great pair of scissors.
Don’t waste your time making overly complicated centers. If you see one similar to the picture below, STAY AWAY! It took me about 24 minutes to make ONE using a cutting machine. Remember, paper flowers are an amazing backdrop for you. While it’s great to be detail oriented think of this like a photographer would. The focus is the people, the scenery, and the atmosphere; it is not the center of the flower. Paper flowers can be time-consuming. I recommend trying to make as many flowers are you can. Forget about wasting your energy in the flower center. I prefer to have 50 flowers done with a regular center flower than 10 flowers with an intricate center.
If you are planning to make a backdrop you may want to build a stand alone frame. Building such a frame can be done using nothing more than PVC pipe or wood with some chicken wire. If you’re not wanting to build a frame, a piece of plywood with push pins works great if you’re not wanting to attach the flowers to an existing wall.

A mi me gusta usar mi máquina de cortado solo para hacer hojar y algunos centros de flores. Tu mejor amigo para hacer la flor de papel es un buen par de tijeras.
No pierdas tu tiempo haciendo el centro de la flor tan complicado, si ves un centro de flor similar al de la foto arriba ¡Manténgase alejado! Me tomó unos 24 minutos para hacer uno y yo estaba usando mi máquina de corte para hacerlo. Recuerde que las flores se hicieron para ser un telón de fondo. El fotógrafo de tu fiesta no va a pasar un minuto de su tiempo tomando fotos de detalle del centro de las flores.
Las flores de papel son laboriosas. Te recomiendo usar tu tiempo tratando de hacer tantas flores como puedas. Olvidate de desperdiciar tu energía en el centro de las flores. Yo prefiero tener 50 flores hechas con una flor de centro regular que tener 10 flores con una centro magnífico que nadie va a notar.
Cómo se cuelgan las flores depende de la forma en que la construcción de la flor, para colgar mis flores puedes utilizar tachuelas, ganchos de la marca Command, bandas de Velcro. Si tienes planeado hacer un telón de fondo tal vez necesites construir un marco con tubo PVC o de madera y alambre de corral. También puede utilizar un lamina de madera y colocar las flores a estas con alfileres.
