I discovered thrift stores when I became a Pinterest addict around 4 years ago ☺. I love going to these stores at least once or twice a month, there’s always something cool that you can find.
I’m not definitely and expert but I think I’ve learned what are good things to buy: vases, candle holders, picture frames, vintage furniture, and vintage decorations. It took me some research to learn about pieces, for example just because something looks old doesn’t mean it wasn’t made last year and was originally bought at Target, Marshalls, Homegoods, etc. Buy things that were made in Japan, Italy and USA. Avoid getting things from China, not because they’re bad, mainly because they’re generally new products made to look old fashioned.
A lot of the times when buying things from thrift store you have to look at a products potential. The thing you’re considering purchasing may not be exactly what you want but you can always customize it to fit your esthetic. Just last week I stopped at the thrift store and bought these two vases, they cost me $3.99 each and I knew after painting them they’d look great with flowers.
Yo descubrí las tiendas de segunda mano cuando me convertí en un adicta de Pinterest alrededor de 4 años atrás ☺. Me encanta ir a estas tiendas al menos una o dos veces al mes, siempre hay algo chévere que se puede encontrar. Definitivamente no soy una experta pero creo que he aprendido que es cosas son buenas para comparar en estas tiendas como : Floreros, candelabros, marcos de cuadros, muebles antiguos y las decoraciones de época. Me toco investigar un poco para saber qué buscar en una pieza, por ejemplo la meta es encontrar cosas de época que tienen carácter y no son genéricas lo que significa que el probablemente van a ser hecho en Japón, Italia, EE.UU. Recuerde quieres conseguir la cosa real no decoraciones que se ven antiguas pero en realidad son nuevos de Target, Homegoods, Marshalls, etc. Evita comprar cualquier cosa que sea hecha en China, debido a que es un 80% que se trata de algo nuevo con look de algo antiguo.
La gran mayoría de veces cuando comprar algo de estas tiendas tienes que ver el potencial que tienen, estoy segura que cuando los compres no se verán tan lindos, son muy pocas las cosas que encuentres que estén lista para su uso sin ninguna modificación. La semana pasada me di una vuelta por la tienda de segunda mano y compre estos dos floreros, que me costaron $ 3.9 cada uno. Yo sabía que después de pintarlos quedarían espectaculares para bases de flores.

- Thrift store vases
- Fake or natural flowers
- Spray paint (Rust Oleum is my favorite)
- Painter tape and latex gloves.

First thing to do is wash the vases really well and dry them. Once dry, use painter tape to cover the top area, fill the vases with paper so paint can’t go inside. Paint them and let it dry.
Lo primero que debe hacer es lavar los vasos muy bien y secarlo. Antes de pintar cubre la parte superior de las bases con cinta de pintor y coloca papel dentro para evitar la pintura en este sector.
I bought these beautiful fake flowers to complete the project. Note that not all fake flowers are created equally and some of them can be very expensive. Look for them when they’re on sale, or you can make them using one of my tutorials. You can also use natural flowers but if you’re like me, they may not last so long.
Compré estas hermosas flores artificiales para completar el proyecto . Dependiendo la calidad las flores falsas pueden ser costosas por eso siempre las compro cuando están en oferta. Si prefieres utiliza flores naturales . Por lo general yo me olvido de cambiar el agua para las flores naturales y es por eso que prefiero las falsas.
One tip don’t cut the stem of the flowers too short. I simply fold the stem so that I can use them later for other projects or in different sized vases.
Un consejo les recomiendo no cortar el tallo de las flores artificiales solo doblalas de esta manera no se limitan a usar bases de la misma altura.
