DIY Ceiling Fan Makeover | Actualizacion Ventilador

April 15, 2018 Leave a Comment

When my husband removed the ceiling fan to paint the family room, it was the perfect opportunity for me to give our dated ceiling fan a makeover. I knew using Chalk Paint would be the perfect tool to allow me to transform this fan giving it a more like a farmhouse style. In the beginning, I was thinking to change the bowl for a cage (plant holder). I saw someone using something like this on Pinterest and it looked great however my fan was just slightly different so it wasn’t going to work as I needed it to; also, my husband told me that if I place a cage it might make it noisy. After weighing my options I decided to keep the original glass bowl, but I gave it an update too.

This project is really easy. To get the weather wood look on the blades I used Chalk Paint® in Old White, Graphite and Coco. I also used a little Dark and White wax. When you’re purchasing paint you’ve got a lot of options, however, this best paint you can get for a project like this is “Chalk Paint®” a decorative paint by Annie Sloan. Lots of copycats exist, and you’ll find a mess of misleading products at the box stores but don’t be fooled by these wannabes. Chalk Paint® isn’t the cheapest product, but nothing on the market even comes close in terms of coverage and quality. With Chalk Paint®, you’re getting what you paid for and the proof will be in the amazing results. While Chalk Paint® can be a little pricey, for this project, you’ll need to pick up just a couple samples jars which will save you a bundle.

I hope you like this project and if you do this makeover please don’t forget to share a pic on my Facebook page or tag me on Instagram.
