DIY Chalkboard Valentines Day | Pizarron

One of the easiest ways to decorate your home for any season is by simply having a beautiful chalkboard.

The flexibility of chalkboards are endless and they allow a new seasons to come alive by draw or writing a simple message. Chalkboards are also great to use, as sign can be simple kitchen decor or lovely weddings signage; their flexibility allows them to go anywhere and do just about anything. I made this large chalkboard of 30 x 45 in (76cm x 114) with an old picture frame I picked up for free. When I brought it home I knew I was going to use it for a chalkboard.

When I originally started this project I wanted to create the chalkboard using a piece of plywood covered in chalk paint and cut to the size of the picture frame. However after buying chalk paint and trying it on another project I discovered that it wasn’t going to work like I wanted it to so I was back to the drawing board. Then one day that I was at the Home Depot and I found that they sell large black chalkboards for only $10. With this revelation in hand I brought the board home so my husband could cut it to the size I needed. Once I had the board assembled, I was ready to begin drawing my seasonal pictures and messages. I learned a lot dealing with chalk and trying to create lovely seasonal art. I won’t recommend too many things, discovering what works best for you is half the fun, but I would recommend getting a chalk marker. Chalk markers are super easy to work with and the lines they make look really great.

I hope you like this DIY and if you make it please share a pic with me on my social media or tag me on Instagram.
