DIY Fall Centerpiece

I love how this centerpiece turned out and you’ll not believe how easy is to make it.
I got the pumpkins and leaves from the dollar store, nobody can beat those prices, unless they were free of course ;). My only complaint about the Dollar store, I wish there was one closer to my house. I painted the pumpkins with chalk spray paint, but to be honest it didn’t work as well as I had wanted it to. To get the coverage I wanted I use some leftover white latex paint that I have in the garage; I actually think acrylic paint would have worked as well. I also painted the leaves with gold paint, which gave it a nice pop. My husband made the wood box from some scrap leftover from our boards and battens project, which I then stained, painted and distressed. I generally like to apply stain with a wet rag and mix it with a little water, which allows the wood grain to show through the lovely finish. When the box is dried I add white acrylic paint with a bush then I sanded it and finally added a coat of really watering gray latex paint to give the box that vintage look and feel. After letting everything dry and acclimate the centerpiece is ready for this thanksgiving.

Me gusta mucho como me salió este centro de mesa, y no van a cree lo fácil que fue hacerlo. Compre las calabazas y hojas en la tienda de dólar, los precios que tienes son increíbles. Me gustaría que hubiese uno cerca de mi casa. Primero trate de pintar las hojas con chalk paint que tenia en la casa, pero la verdad no funciono como quería, entonces use pintura latex que me quedaba de cuando pintamos el comedor. Esta si funciono de maravilla, estoy segura que si usan pintura acrílica también funcionara. Le di entre dos a tres capas de pintura a cada calabaza, pinte las hojas con pintura dorada en spray. La caja de madera me la hizo mi esposo con alguno resto de madera que teníamos en la casa de un proyecto anterior. Yo me encargue de darle el look de madera antigua. Hay muchas técnicas para darle este look a la madera, yo use una mezcla de un par de técnicas, pinte la caja con mancha de madera, la cual derretí con un poco de agua, la aplique con un trapo húmedo. Después de que seco utilice un pincel y pintura acrílica acuérdense no tienen que ser prolijos el objetivo es hacer que la caja se vea vieja. Cuando seco la lije en algunos sectores. Finalmente le aplique una capa de pintura latex ploma que diluí con bastante agua, también puede usar pintura acrílica, pero quieres que sea mas que todo agua de color, por decirlo de alguna manera. Y eso es todo, ya tengo el centro de mesa para decorar la cena de Día de Gracias.
