Have you ever looked for a specific product online and wasn’t able to find what you were looking for? In the end, you decided to make it yourself. I was looking for a small mat to put at the front of my stairs, so people going upstairs would take off their shoes. While the first floor is tile, the second floor has carpet, and I’d like to keep it as lovely as possible, for as long as possible. I can tolerate people walking with shoes on the first floor, it is easy to clean and disinfect, but carpet is not.
In my search for the perfect mat, I looked everywhere, but most mats that resemble what I was envisioning are big and made to be used on the front door; they won’t fit properly in myspace. So I bit the bullet, I knew I needed to make a mat to fit what I was envisioning, and I headed to IKEA in search of floor mats. While in the rugs and carpet section, and I wasn’t able to find anything that I liked, but I persevered into the bathroom section, and it was there I found what I was looking for, the Fintsen bath mat. It was the color I wanted, the perfect dimensions, and non-slippery; bonus it costs less than $2. The only thing left was to make it my own, and I knew I could create my perfect stair mat using some simple stencils.
