Knock Off Restoration Hardware Laurel Leaf Wreath

November 14, 2017 Leave a Comment

When I saw this beautiful Laurel Leaf Wreath on the Restoration Hardware website, I knew I really wanted one however I didn’t love the $499 price. Instead of shelling out the cash I decided do what any good crafter would do and make my own version. After the success I had making a DIY Sunflower Mirror using cardstock and having it look like a metallic piece, I knew I could use a similar technique to build this wreath.

To start this project I first drew my own leaf patterns to use in my cutting machine. While everything I’ll be illustrating in this post is geared toward a Cricut cutting machine, everything covered here will work in a Silhouette Cameo cutting machine as well. If you’re using a Cricut, I recommend buying a scoring stylus. This optional part makes much of the leaf cutting and folding process very simple. However, if you don’t happen to own or have access to a cutting machine, don’t worry about it. Everything covered in this project can be made with nothing more than a pair of trusty scissors and a scoring tool, although it may take a bit longer.

I put together the wreath using heavy weight cardstock, as seen in the video, and spray paint. If you prefer, you can buy gold or silver metallic cardstock and simply skip the painting process however I personally believe the leaves look more like brass when they’re painted; my favorite brand of spray paint is Rust Oleum.

I hope you like this DIY as much as I do. If you made it please don’t forget to share a picture I’d love to see it.

Me encantaría verla.
