DIY Sunflower Mirror – Espejo de Girasol
I have been searching for a sunflower or sunray mirror for a long while. I have seen a couple at various stores that I’ve loved, however I wasn’t a fan of the prices; I really don’t want to spend $450 on a decorative mirror. Since I call myself a crafter, I thought I should make one ☺ It took me a while to figure out the best materials for this project. Example: I knew I was going to use a circular mirror but I wanted something on top to decorate it, then, Eureka! I should use a wood embroidery hoop and clothespins for this. They are easy to find and really affordable. I decided to cut the clothespin, but that is optional, I think they look better if they’re about 1” ¾ (4.5cm). My husband cut them and he asked me for credit on the blog post. Thank you Kevin for your help! To make it quick he took a 2×6 and drilled 8 holes in it. He then placed the clothespins in the holes and made 8 smaller pins with one cut using a circular saw; genius!
This project came out better than I expected. I placed it on top of my bed and it looks gorgeous! I think I’m going to make a new one to decorate the console in the entry hallway. I hope you enjoy this project and if you make it please share a pic with me on my Facebook page or tag me on Instagram, I’d love to see how the mirror comes out.
If you want this mirror to come out nicely you need to use some math. I drew the patterns and guide to make it easy for you to assemble the sunflower mirror. They are available for free on my blog.
